LPC
PURPOSE |
LPC is a fully biodegradable highly concentrated plasticizer which has been specifically formulated to improve the lubricity and workability of no-slump concrete mixes.
OTHER BENEFITS |
Not only will LPC substantially reduce the cycle time for the manufacture of no-slump products, such as concrete blocks, bricks and pipe, LPC is an efficient water reducer and will produce a stronger and less porous finished product with a much better surface appearance. Concrete pipe producers will particularly appreciate the denser, more consolidated product resulting from the use of LPC. LPC will also reduce mold wear and reduce/eliminate any need to use an air entraining admixture.
APPLICATION |
In most applications, LPC should be added at a rate of 0.5 - 1.5 ounces per 100 lbs. (32.5 to 97.5 ml per 100 kg) of cementitious material. If the aggregate is porous or the cement ratio is low, then more LPC will be required, however, extreme overdosing will cause some strength loss. For maximum effectiveness, dilute with water at a ratio of 10:1 and add the diluted product during the final water phase of the mixing cycle. Do not add this product at an earlier stage as this will lower its effectiveness. Normal additions of water to the mix should be reduced by at least 2 to 3 percent to improve machine efficiency because the lubricity of LPC increases with decreasing water levels. In the event an air entraining admixture is to be used, the amount should be reduced by at least 90% because LPC will activate and cause additional air entraining. STORAGE AND AGITATION |
Store this product in areas where the temperature exceeds 45o F and protect from freezing. Shelf life normally is 12 months when stored in a reasonable environment and not contaminated by foreign materials. Occasional agitation is required when stored for a period exceeding 30 days.
