SEAL WET
PURPOSE |
| Sealwet is a dull to glossy finish sealer for use on concrete surfaces. It dries very quickly to a very hard surface coating. This product sets up a barrier at the surface of concrete, preventing moisture from penetrating. This barrier is not sensitive to ultraviolet and/or weather deterioration. As a result, Sealwet treated concrete products do not yellow and continue to bead water for more than 5 years. One coat of Sealwet diluted 1:1 with water gives a dull finish. One coat without dilution gives a glossy finish. |
OTHER BENEFITS |
| Sealwet will minimize spalling from freeze/thaw conditions and will minimize efflorescence caused by substrate salts and chemicals being carried to the concrete surface by inherent water. It will not alter the color of the concrete surface and the surface will maintain a cleaner appearance by inhibiting mold and fungus formation. |
APPLICATION |
| Apply to any vertical surface. Apply with caution to horizontal surfaces, since horizontal application may be slippery. Sealwet can be applied to damp surfaces. However, the surface must be clean and free from cracks, surface finishes (e.g. paint) and contaminants (dirt, oils, efflorescence, etc). Sealwet treated products are normally dry to the touch in 1 hour; however; they require at least 48 hours before testing or subjecting the product to a hard rain. The recommended dosage follows (in square feet per gallon): |
| Products | Recommended Coverage |
| Split Face Block | 50-75 ft2/gallon |
| Regular Block | 100-125 |
| Porous Brick | 125-150 |
| Fired Brick | 200-250 |
| Regular Precast | 200-300 |
| Precast Panels | 200-300 |
| The above coverage estimates are approximate and will vary for each specific case. Use of this product should be at temperatures exceeding 50oF. It may be applied by brush or by using a conventional low-pressure rotary or a gear pump sprayer, or a commercial grade pump-up spray tank. Do not use a high pressure airless sprayer. Best results are obtained by delivering a soft stream of Sealwet using a fan spray tip with an orifice of 0.03" to 0.06" and saturating the treated surface. Clean the equipment after each use with water. One can dilute or thin this product with water to obtain the desired film thickness. To dilute, add the sealer to the water (as it will foam if you add the water to the sealer). Avoid heavy brushing. Stir to mix well. Do not use a paint shaker because it might cause foaming. WARNING: Read the Material Safety Data Sheet prior to using this product. Avoid contact with the skin and eyes. The use of eye protection during application is recommended. Any overspray should be removed immediately with soap and water. |
STORAGE AND AGITATION |
| Sealwet is a water-based product and must be protected from freezing. Store between 45oF and 100o, preferably between 45oF and 70oF. Shelf life normally is 8 months when stored in a cool environment and not contaminated by foreign materials. |
